MerryMount Teams

 

 MerryMount fields three youth equitation teams and one adult equestrian team. The senior "A" team and junior "B" team are members of the National Capitol Equitation League (NCEL), while the adult team competes in the National Capital Adult Equestrian League (NCAEL).  Merrymount also sponsors a youth "C" team for our less-experienced riders that competes in the National Short Stirrup Equestrian League (NCSSEL)

     Both youth 'A' and 'B' teams are comprised of eight (8) members who must be enrolled as students and be eighteen (18) or under.   Merrymount's "C" Team is for our up-and-coming young riders. This program, similar to the more experienced Senior and Junior teams, is run in a fairly relaxed format. These riders also have regular meets at other schools as well as hosting other teams at home. It's a great way to enter the show world. Great both for the kids, and for some of the new parents.

The adult team is comprised of nine (9) members who are over 30 years of age; riders in this league may not have shown over fences exceeding 2'9" in the last 5 years.

     Team members are chosen by judged competitive tryouts. Throughout the winter months, the teams travel and host competitions with other schools accumulating points for their team. At the year end "Final Meet", championships are decided and trophies are awarded to the high point school and riders in both league and MerryMount sponsored banquets.
